Sorour Peyrovani wins award at Shanghai filmfest

Iranian actress Sorour Peyrovani has won an award at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.

Peyrovani won the Best Actress Award for her appearance at ‘1.5 Horsepower’ directed by Rasoul Kahani at the 2023 edition of the event.

“When I was a child, I used to put my head on my mother's shoulders, her shoulders were very warm, I miss my mother's smell, I miss her,” a brief synopsis for ‘1.5 Horsepower’ reads.

Sorour Peyrovani, Ebrahim Azizi, Mohammad Ashkanfar and Amir Babashahabi form the cast list of the flick.

Founded in 1993, the SIFF focuses on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform, and promote the development of the Chinese film industry.

This year’s edition of the fest was held on June 9-18.
